I disputed some accounts with experian that weren't mine online, and they came back verified BOTH times! ARGH! So, I then fired off a letter to them regarding it, and I just received a letter from them the other day saying they already investigated and would need further proof to initiate an investigation. How can you prove an account is not yours if you have no documentation? What should I do?
Since it's illegal for minors to engage in contractual arrangements without an adult signatory, here's what you do: 1) Explain that you are 17 years old. Send them a copy of your birth certificate showing that you won't turn 18 until June 11, 2002. 2) Demand that the information be stricken immediately since you aren't eligible for inclusion in their database by definition. 3) Remind them that they are breaking the law in two ways: a) They are defaming your credit and character, and b) They are maintaining and selling information regarding a minor.
