Hi all, I had a student loan that went into default, and a judgment resulted. I paid it off, and it is due to drop off in 7/01. I sucessfully disputed it with Equifax and Trans Union, who deleted it. Experian, (who on the very last day of the 30 days allowed responded to me) verified it! I contacted the courts, the original collection agency, everyone involved to get a status and no one could answer me (it was filed in 94) How could eperian verify this? Should I immediately re-dispute and have them tell me who they dealt with? Also, I find that Experian puts drop off dates on my report that mean nothing. The date comes and goes, and when I question it, they remove the date and simply state "verified." Im not sure if I should redispute now, or leave it. Its due to come off in less than a year, but its bugging me that the lender themselved cant verify it, and the other CRA's deleted it. I find it hard to believe that on the very last day of the 30 day allowance, they were able to verify. Isnt that a little too coincidental? Thanks for your advice, and sorry this is so long...
RE: Experian, verification, is I have one that the cs rep told me that my payment had been received each month, so they didn't know why it was showing thirty days late - but according to Experian - they verified it! I just received the dispute reply yesterday. So what's next, a "prove it or remove it" letter to the creditor? Or should I redispute it with Experian demanding a contact name/number?
