Hello, I am just wondering what the best way to dispute an item is in regards to legality, proof, etc. It seems easy to dispute an item on your credit report through the online dispute form, but will that give me enough leverage once the 30 days is up and they havent responded? Am I better off doing it by mail? Also, if you've already disputed an item as "I paid this before it went to collections", do you lose any standing when it comes to using another reason for dispute? Thanks for your help, everyone. Lesley

I dispute everything as not mine. (I do everything on line and then print out the dispute form so that I have a copy of date disputed and time for my records.)
