Hi all, I recently ran out of black ink for my new Epson printer, and found an Epson compatible cartridge for $4.00 rather than the customary $28.00 for the real thing at Wal-Mart. I bought the fake cartridge at www.megatoners.com (don't use them, but that's another thread) and they warned me that Epson software would prompt me that I was installing a non Epson product upon cartridge installation. Will it cause my PC to blow up? just kidding... Seriously, will acknowledging the fake hardware corrupt the Epson software or void my Epson warranty? Thanks,
Probably will void the warranty. Epson will not fix it if something happens because you use a non-epson product. I remeber reading something like that when I read the instructions on my printer.
I bought fake Epson Cartriges online from Carrot Ink! It was awful! The ink globbed and smeared all over the place! My software said nothing about using non-epson ink... but I won't do it again anyway!
Depends on who you buy it from. I work for an office supply company and we sell remanufactured cartridges and have a written guarantee that if something happens to your machine due to the cartridge, we will replace your machine at no charge to you. Just depends on the company that you are dealing with!! "fake" cartridges aren't bad, just have to make sure that you are working with a good company. All major office supply stores carry them.
