Question, Since it is not "illegal" for a company to report a "false negative", until and only if you dispute it, would it be illegal to start a company that (for a fee) reported false positives to the CRA's? Something like for $49.95 (sorry Bill), we will report a loan of $1000 never late paid in full, for your SS#. As long as you didn't dispute it, it would remain on your record "legally". -Dave
NO! YOU CAN'T ADD FALSE (OR FAKE) INFORMATION TO A CREDIT REPORT... THAT WAS WHAT BOBBY (and others) WAS TRYING TO DO...ILLEGAL... There is a difference between adding wrong or incorrect information...and adding "FALSE" or "FAKE" information to a credit report.
Ahhhh makes sense, not that the idea appealed to me, I just never heard of anyone disputing false positive trades (me included) and thought about their ability to remain unless updated or disputed...thanks for the info G -Dave
