FBI ARRESTS FORMER NEXTCARD AUDITOR FBI agents today arrested Thomas C. Trauger, a former partner in the San Francisco office of Ernst & Young, allegedly for altering and destroying working papers related to Ernst & Youngâ??s audit of NextCard Inc., the publicly traded San Francisco-based online card issuer. The destruction allegedly occurred during an Office of the Comptroller of the Currency examination of NextBank, NextCardâ??s banking subsidiary, a Securities and Exchange Commission spokesperson tells CardLine. Trauger, 40, a certified public accountant who lives in Berkeley,CA, is charged with one count of obstructing the examination of a financial institution. The government also charged Trauger with falsification of records in a federal investigation in violation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, according to the SEC.
