In January, FCI sent me their first collections bill for a hospital bill. That month, I responded with a validation request, which I have the CRRR for. I have received no mail from them prior to today. Today, I receive a letter stating: "This is a demand for payment in full today. Why have your ignored our previous notices? Send your payment in full today." among other things. Sounds like a continued attempt to collect without validation, doesn't it? What's my next step? I have the CRRR of the validation letter, a copy of the validation letter, and their most recent attempt to collect. I am more than happy to shell out any needed filing fees to take this one to court.
Since this is a medical bill, were any insurance claims properly submitted, and has the bill been adjusted for contractually required payment amounts under any contracts between the provider and the insurance company? Does the bill accurately reflect both these adjustments, and insurance payments? Did the hospital then send you a bill for the balance due from the patient, and does that match the amount your insurance claims is due from the patient? These are often the areas where medical billing goes wrong, and where enforcing existing contracts will result both in the correct and least amount due from the patient, and in removal of accounts from collection and resulting negative tradelines.
The bill has been adjusted for contractually required payment amounts per contract. The bill from the OC accurately reflected these adjustments and insurance payments. Insurance agrees with everything being claimed.
