How long does it take to become unsecured?

    Kittw1,

I used to have FCNB secured MC and they unsecured your account after a year if you keep your account in good standing. In my case, they increased my credit limit.

INCREASE YOUR LIMIT??? WTF? What about the release of the funds from the savings account?

    Kittw1,

Yes, they increased my limit and I think it was $250. They release the fund from the savings account and they sent me my money plus interest (not much) after a month. By the way, I got them to lower my interest rate to 15.90%.

Whew!! I was screaming, because I just offered them a $300 deposit. How much did you open with and what was your initial limit?

    P.S. Thanks for the response!~

    kittw1,

I deposited $500 and they give 1.5 times of my deposit. The credit limit of the card was $750. From time to time they offer me up to 2.5 times of my deposit. The credit limit of the card was $1900 before it was closed. They also offered me a secured Visa and the limit was $4800 before it was closed.

They kill me with the "up to 4x your deposit". Well, with a $450 limit, I am not interested in paying a monthly participation fee of $6 and oh yeah the one-time processing fee of $119.

So I guess this means that I am a taker for this one. Gotta start somewhere.

    Kittw,

They didn't charge me anything when I added my deposit to secured saving accounts. They offer me "up to 3x your deposit". Don't take the offer because it is rip-off. It sounds like another Capital One.

I think that you are thinking of the wrong card. There are no processing or participation fees at FCNB. There is just an annual fee that I believe is about $29 or so. I have had the card for almost a year and can't complain.

No I was just saying that I will take them in comparison to others that make you pay all of those silly fees to have their card.
