Something is seriously wrong with FCNB. My bill cycles on the first of March. I usually pay my bill the day before or the day its due. (I know I shouldn't but what the hey) Anyway, they changed their policies. I do the check over the phone and usually takes 2 business days to post, but it's credited the day I call in. When I mail my payments they receive the payment AND credit my account within 4 days. My payments are mailed from Western PA to Beaverton OR. That seems to have changed too, now they're quoting 10 business days for payments to post! What is going on there?!!!! The new policy is it takes 5 business days to post a check over the phone, and it doesn't post that day. Consequently, if your payment is due that day they will sock you with a late charge. The Gold Eddie Bauer Mastercard is different. I called the day my payment was due made my usual payment and was told it would credit to my account that day. The customer service seems to be more "world class" than the secured or sub prime product they offer. I have the dreaded ACE Visa now Household (everyone had problems with this card except me) I never had any problems with them at all. Just before they sold their credit card portfolio to HOusehold, the adopted the exact same tactics. It seems they're trying to make money off their sub primers to strenghten their profits, which is deplorable! It's not bad enough their reps are terse and surly, now they have become bottom feeders like household. I liked my FCNB product because increases came every 6 months like clockwork, 100 bucks. I started out with a 500 limit, not secured, but some program I can't remember. Today, its $1400.00. After having the card for one year (May '99) I was preapproved for a spiegel with a 200 cl. Today my spiegel is 3750 cl and I dont' really use the card. I am going to pay it off because they raised my apr to 27.13 APR. I asked why, I couldn't get a clear answer. So I will pay it off but keep it open. Its my oldest retail account. The good thing about this card is you can make payments at an Eddie Bauer store, and the payment posts in 2 business days. I HOPE they don't sell their business to Household! If their portfolio is that bad thats probably where it will go, which depresses me!
Terry, I use BofA Billpay every month to pay Eddie Bauer MC. Bof A send the payment electronically and they post it after three to four days. By the way, I pay them as soon as they close the billing statement and I don't wait to pay the bill until the last minute. Ron.
