Does anyone know what the statue of limitations is for reporting a violation of the Federal Debt Collection Act?
The SOL for filing a lawsuit regarding the Fair Debts Collection *PRACTICES* Act, is 1 year. That only applies to *PRIVATE* actions. Public actions have no SOL, so there is no SOL for reporting a violation of the FDCPA to the FTC. But unless you can show a pattern of violations which is definitive of widespread consumers being affected, the FTC is not usually going to be able to take administrative actions based on the complaint, it'll sit in their files until they have enough complaints to take action. Chances are enough complaints is well over a hundred, to a thousand complaints involving the same pattern or patterns of operations.
