Stop the presses â?? the American porn industry is now asking for a federal bailout.

Hustlerâ??s Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wildâ??s Joe Francis say theyâ??ll ask Congress to hand out $5 billion to help the adult entertainment industry get back on its feet â?? or, perhaps more appropriately, back on its back.

The two say adult DVD sales and rentals have slipped 22 percent over the last year. While Internet porn traffic is growing steadily, the industry isnâ??t profiting enough, the two assert. They believe it needs support â?? â??just to see us through hard times,â? Francis says. (And yes, he really did use that adjective.)

Flynt said the following in a statement released Wednesday:

â??People are too depressed to be sexually active. This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex.

With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind. Itâ??s time for congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America. The only way they can do this is by supporting the adult industry and doing it quickly.â?

Congress has yet to issue any official response.

    (LOL)

They better hope the Congress critters don't go to Reno, Nev.

People may be getting laid off these days â?? but apparently, they still want to get laid. The Bunny Ranch and other legal brothels say theyâ??re seeing a huge boost in women applying for prostitute positions as a result of the current economic climate. The Bunny Ranch: Applications Up

The Moonlight Bunny Ranch in Reno, Nevada has spawned its share of celebrities thanks to its HBO show â?? characters like Air Force Amy, and even a guy dubbed â??Eric the Midgetâ? by Howard Stern. (Apparently, â??Eric the Midgetâ? lost his virginity at The Bunny Ranch, and Howard Stern devoted some time to discussing it.)

Now, the brothel and others like it say business is booming, and women out of work are looking to join Air Force Amy and her pals for a high-paying romp in the hay. The Bunny Ranch says it received 1,500 applications last month alone. And itâ??s not just prostitution, either â?? adult businesses such as strip clubs are also seeing an increase in applications. The following video discusses the trend at The Bunny Ranch and other Nevada brothels. (And yes, youâ??ll hear from Air Force Amy in it.)
