I just applied for a Federal Stafford loan (Unsubsidized). they do not require a credit check. I wanted my loan history posted on any credit report. When I called to inquire the woman I spoke to said they report only if it becomes deliquent. But when I wrote to them through e-mail, they said they DO report the loan to the credit B's. Can any of you substantiate what the truth is? Any Federal loans reported on you good/bad/both? What CB's do they use? thanks Diane
My stafford loan is on all three of my credit reports, but they are not rated. I think they aren't rated because they're defferred until I graduate (whenever that is). After that, I think they become rated. Don't take my word for it though, I could be wrong. -me- TU 609 7/9 EQ 601 7/9 EX ???
I got a stafford loan in June, and it's already reporting on Equifax. My fiance's stafford loans are reporting on all 3. Too bad the rep didn't know what she was talking about
My student loans are reported on all 3. When they were in deferment they were unrated and then they became rated. Believe me they report student loans.
As several others have already stated, all federal student loans report to all three CBs. I see them all the time when reviewing credit reports for mortgage clients. fla-tan
Thanks you. The unsubsidized student stafford loans are not deferred so I am guessing when I receive it , it should be put on one or more of my CR's. For any one who is trying to build credit , this is an opportunity that should not be missed. Except for secured credit cards and loans where your deposit equals your credit line, federal Student loans are the only other way I can think of that gives you the opportunity to build credit without a credit check and without upfront money. Hey college kids. Don't mess it up. Pay on time. I know from experience. Thanks again
