Well, I just got off the phone with Capital One. I have four cards with them now...did not get any line increases...accounts too new, one time over limit, etc. Of course, one year customer history of paying all cards on time does not count much.

To make matters worse, I pulled my CE report and saw that my score dropped 10 points from the inquiry. Then I realized as I looked over my report what everybody's been saying about Cap 1 not posting the credit limits. All my Cap 1 cards say N/A for credit limit! This sucks.

I need a card that will give me a decent balance, no annual fees, and then I will close out these Cap 1 cards...all of them. I've been thinking Cap One was great, but I realize now that they never want you to leave and will keep your limits low, so balances will max out your ratios, and not report credit lines to keep your score low.

I am going to go watch a movie, cry a little, and try to forget about this whole credit game. I do not deserve this.

If anyone has any suggestions on a better credit card that will help me build up my credit rating, I will certainly appreciate it. My scores are in the low 600's and never seem to move no matter what I do.

The high credit serves as the limit too.

Just max them out with a big purchase and the next day cancel the purchase/credit the account and it should reflect the "high credit".

Also, try Mr. Cooke via PFB. And threaten to cancel some of the accounts.

I'm sorry Calmest_LA. Amex does the same thing to me. My suggestion is to dispute the items with the CRAs and enclose a copy of the your statement with only the name, address, and credit limit showing. I finally got all three credit bureaus reporting my limit with Amex. Unfortunately, when I get a credit line increase I have to dispute all over again. I think in the future we're going to see more creditors not reporting the credit limit because it limits consumers ability to retain high lines and also their ability to leave and go elsewhere for a better deal. There really should be a notation added that creditors are required to post a consumer's individual credit line since FICO does take it into effect. By not reporting the line it only decreases our score (which isn't right since many creditors are score-driven). Watch a movie, have a good cry, and a cup of hot cocoa. In the morning everything will look better.

If this was your first time being late with Cap1 call and have them delete the late from the system, due to your outstanding track system.

Also, try not to let anyone pull your credit report for limit increases.

In order to win at the game, you want to get the most from the company while expending the least.

So if you can get them to give you an increase without pulling an inquiry, you WIN

Sorry to hear about your situation. I posted in one of your inquiry's yesterday. Don't feel discourage about your credit rebuilding progress. It takes time and a good battle plan.

A score in the low 600's is not that bad. If you want, in general terms lpost what your derogs are. This board has a wealth of information from posters that can help you.

What are you goals, with this cc rebuilding?

Cap 1 IS NOT that bad of a company to deal with. Just have to know the ins and outs of how to deal with them.

As for my Cap 1 card, I started with a $100 deposit/$300 CL in 1996. It was my first card post bk-13. I remember trying to rent a car and having Hertz tell me there was not enough credit to charge. Christ it was tough. From 1996-2000 my cl was only $700

Thanks to this site and it's posters. I have learned how to PFP Cap 1, show my high balance as a cl on the CR. My current cl is $3000.00 and unsecured. The strangest thing is that I have never received other Cap 1 card offers.

This site has helped me obtained a Nextcard (4k cl)and a Target Visa (6k) and two retail cc. Increase my cl with Providian. Importantly I was able to get a mortgage last year, the rate was a tad high but I have a chance to refinance this Spring with a lower rate.

So hang in there, we are all here to learn from each other.

    Best regards,
    Mirage

One way you can easily show your limit with one purchase is by buying jewelry. It is often expensive and you can charge it and it will show very quickly.

I have a Cap 1 card and due to the holidays it is charged up anyway.

I called one of my cc companies and they said they will update my credit report to show the credit limit.

Some cc companies will work with you others won't.

Remember Cap 1 is sub-prime and this is definately a way to remind you.

betacredit, beware of jewelry because when you least expect it, can be no refundable. Also, something (unforseen) can always happen to jewelry.

I recommend fine furniture. Buying means setting up a delivery for sometime a week or 2 later. In a retail furniture store they will charge your card right then and there. A couple days later you can cancel the deal and get your account credited, before the delivery is ever made.

why would an inquiry with CapOne pull your score down ? It should be coded AR since you are so deep 4 cards.

I have had my limit increased 3 times since last Nov not one inquiry. Write a very detailed fact driven letter via www.planetfeedback.com to CapOne and you should be taken care of....good luck

I pasted in a copy of my letter, note everything was done except the reporting of cl which I took care of myself by sending copies of my statements to the CRA's

    RE: PLANETFEEDBACK REFERENCE NUMBER 1182093

    To Whom It May Concern:

I'm writing to alert you to a few problems I've had with credit cards
issued by you. My problems concerns price, value and overall service. I hope
by bringing this to your attention, the problems will be addressed. These
incidents has made me very annoyed.

    Here's what happened:

Overall my experience has been very positive. Aside from a 60 day late
which occured in 1999 due to a misleading statement sent to me saying no
    payment was due.

I started to cancel my card then, but something in my gut said to stick it
out. Which over the course of 2 years things got much better.

With that said,I believe I an deserving of a lower apr and a higher limit
on these cards. Also on the list of desired corrections, please report my
credit limit to the credit reporting firms. Because Capital One doesn't
report my limits, my credit score is not as high as it should be!

    529107190442XXXX MC

    438864185565XXXX Visa

Here's what I want you to do: First and foremost report my credit limits,
then rasie them. Take the 60 day late off of my record. Then ajust my apr
to a level in line with my payment history.

I currently use my visa card almost to the limit most months and pay it off
or make payments of $200-475 per month. After you research my account
history you will see this is true. I need and can pay on a larger credit
    limits.

Since I have handled the cards issued prudently this warrants a lower apr .
I now have 24+ months of paying as agreed. This should account for
    something.

In the future, I definitely will do business with you again. And I
definitely will recommend you to others.

I appreciate your taking the time to listen to my complaint. I hope it can
    be addressed.

    Sincerely,

Mirage I think the other offers come from a lot of activity or if you call in a lot request cl increase. I noticed I got my pre-approved Gold offer after renting card for business four months in a row and pay on itevey week because the damn limit was so low back then.

I just got a pre-approve car loan offer from one of their partners just yesterday.

    Hey Everyone,

WOW! I woke up this morning to see all of your comments and it's cheered me up some to know that I can come here for support. Thanks to you all for such good info and thoughtful responses.

I haven't heard anything yet from my PFB to Cap1, but it's the weekend, so I imagine it will be next week before I hear back from them.

Again, I will keep you posted as to what happens.

Of course, I have to repeat my mantra--Cap One sucks big #@!&%....

Anytime anyone I know says anything about Cap One--I always tell them, run...run very fast...and keep running....you can even scream while you run....

Keep your chin up...one day, you'll delight in telling them to stick their plastic up their arse--as a matter of fact--let me know when that day comes--I'll do it for you...free of charge--
