   Does the score consider a balance on a closed account when calculating utilization? I know that the credit line is no longer considered.

   Yes for TU. My fico with them is 690. I have only one trade line from a department store back in 1981.
   
   The balance is $0 and they went out of business in 1998. Go figure.
