two c/o accounts fell off of equifax today. (The date of last activity was 11/94). These are finally the last of my negatives. Fico went from 608 to 714 simply because these fell off. Yeeeehaw.

Congrats, and I guess that shows that some derogs hurt your score substantially for the whole 7 years.

congratulations, eddie! One question, please. What was the last date *reported*? Did the creditors ever update after 1994?

Marci one of the c/os was paid and updated often because I disputed it often. The other was a c/o that had gone to judgement but only being reported as a c/o unpaid even though it was paid. It had actually been removed after a dispute in May only to be reinserted in June. I gave up disputing it at that time because I didnt want to have it reaged or the judgement to magically appear. Throughout the process I called the creditor many times to have the account reported as paid. They would agree but eq would continue to show it unpaid. It was the most frustrating experience because there was nothing I could do but wait. Finally my credit hell is over. Thank you all.

I suspect this is why your score was so low in the first place. I have reason to believe that Equifax (I'm assuming that this is MyFico that you're posting about) uses the last date reported for it's scoring purposes rather than last date of activity. I've seen that wrt to my own Equifax report and credit score after an unsucessful dispute, and I remember reading about it on this board wrt someone else's experience.

Thanks for your reply and congratulations. It is nice to be out of credit hell...

Marci I think your absolutely correct . It seemed like every time I would dispute fico would go down when it was verified. Also when it was reinserted I took a big hit although I attributed some of that to a disputed providian account....Anyway I do believe Eq penalizes after a disputed item is verified.
