Is the equifax report the most important to clean up, since the FICO seems to be the report that gets used the most? It would figure if it is, because it's my worst one!! Go figure!

It's always the job you hate the most that needs to get done. LOL

Yeah, it seems to be the one that I've put off the most. It had the most derogs, and it seems to be the hardest to get the stuff off. Figures of course!

    Mine had the least.

What REALLY smokes me is that when I spoke with them today, they had the audacity to tell me they reinserted an old address because it was "part of my credit history" and used it to "verify" multiple tradelines.

The same formula used to calculate the FICO score from your Equifax report is used to calculate scores from TU (Emprica) and Experian (Fair-Isaac). All three scores are generically called "FICO" scores even though the Equifax score is the only one that is truly called "FICO".

The most important report for you to clean is the one that creditors in your area like to pull. TU and Experian are more widely used than Equifax in my area.

If your goal is to be approved for a mortgage you'll have to fix TWO reports instead of just one. My mortgage lender for example takes the middle of the three scores for credit qualification. In my case my Equifax was 668, my TU was 672 and my Experian was 711. The 672 score was used to qualify me.

Wish they used EQ more in my area.....it happens to be my best report. Unfortunalety, where I live, EXP seems to be the preferred CRA.

Funny thing for me is last June when Equifax began offering scores my FICO score was 650. Today after more than a year of credit repair and after getting about 10 deletions (I'm down to two negatives on Equifax) my score is 667.

My Experian Creditexpert score however has gone from 565 last June (they started offering the service after my first round of deletions, so my score was probably much lower at first) to 707 today. I know the Creditexpert score is not FICO but it was pretty close (CE 707, Fair-Isaac 711) when I applied for my mortgage.

It seems to me that should fall under the reinsertion rules and if they didnt notify you properly you have a violation.

Good point. Maybe I'll call and ask to speak to a supervisor, if they have one!
