pulled my equifax report and score. my question is: the second reason code of #13 (time since delinquency too recent or unknown) is confusing to me. I have studied my report thoroughly and every entry has a date. and my last "delinquent" entry, is when I paid my state tax lien..filed in 1998 and paid off/released (reflected on report) in 6/2000. Could this be what the reason code is referring to? Does the reason code of #13 specifically apply to dates or could it be something else?
Equifax codes 120+ day delinquencies in such a way as to suggest that the deliquency is still current even if it had been paid off. That code never updates - even if the balance is zero and I think it is very unfair. That may be what us going on with your tax entry and why that reason code comes up. I have that reason code, too. State tax liens come off 7 yrs from the date you paid them, as opposed to the date they were filed. They are not affected by new FCRA rules. In other words, the 7 yr clock starts the day you pay it (it is released) and not the date it first was delinquent. If you paid 6/2000, it will be on their until 6/07, perhaps that is what they mean? Maybe it appears as a new debt, since it has 7 yrs to go?
