Hi everyone.... I spoke with the local office of the PA Atty General regarding the $0 assets /$ liabilites issue. The woman I spoke with wasn't sure if this info has to reported correctly or not. However, she did say I can file a complaint with the Attorney General's office and she is sending me out the forms. I think she said they would then act as mediators. Has anyone had this experience? Does it work?
I am in the process of doing this. I sent TU a letter via PFB w/ CC to AG. I received this e-mail back the next day. Thank you for considering the Florida Attorney General as a source of assistance regarding Trans Union LLC, reporting a bankruptcy on your credit file and your efforts to have the inaccurate information removed. Florida's Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Consumer Services (DCS), is the state agency assigned for processing consumer complaints in this area. To file your complaint over the Internet, visit DCS's website at http://www.800helpfla.com/. The mailing address for DCS is Mayo Building, Second Floor, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0800, telephone (850)488-2221 or toll-free from within Florida (800)435-7352. Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act provides individuals with a private remedy to bring an action for damages, attorney's fees and court costs. You may wish to consider consulting your attorney for a determination of any private remedies that may also be available to you. We hope this information proves helpful to you. I have placed a complaint with them. We'll see what happens from here.
Donna... That sounds like a good idea. Can you email me (or post) the letter? I'd like to use it as a template if you don't mind.
I used the letter in this post as a guide http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=125427#post125427
I have had a very positive experience with the AG of Pa. When I filed my complaint, they responded to advise me they were in receipt of the complaint and processing it. Two weeks later I received a letter from the AG, stating my complaint was resolved to my satisfaction. They sent a copy of the letter from the collection company stating, "Since we cannot validate the debt we are removing it from Mr. S***** credit report."
