I'm so excited over here... Pretty sure they can hear me screaming from the mainland! (we live in Hawaii) Finally NFCU updated our credit limit (now 20k) and is reporting a balance (I never carried a balance on it before). My husband is now officially a joint user also. Between that and having a collection from Service Credit Union deleted... his TU went up 94 points in one day!!! Jumping up and down... so excited! His TU started at 605 on 4/18 and a 35 days later it is now 736!!!!! Starting to feel good about this! TU is his "cleanest" report, with only 1 more collection that will fall off in December I really owe it to everyone here who has been so helpful and gracious with their time, so thank you all so much!
Also I should add.. My credit is completely stuck in one spot.... Having the NFCU limit increased and actually carrying a balance had no effect whatsoever on my score!
Thanks! I've been treating this like a full time job so it feels awesome to have all the hard work pay off!
$26,000 in available credit and $4,000 is being used at the moment... so currently 15%, which I know is super high... but I have tried lower and it still didn't go up!.. Usually carry $0 balance but have tried $500, $1,000 and $2,000
Not super high, LOL. Hmmm....IDK. Maybe when your scores are as high as yours carrying a small balance versus zero doesn't affect it? I just know I saw a consistent point change when I went back and forth from 0 to 1% balance. Congrats though on your husbands score, it's great reading stories like yours. 130 points in one month is HUGE!
Well it's super high for me hah! I hate carrying a balance but thought it was necessary to see if it made a difference... I guess I need to find my sweet spot. I am stoked about my husbands credit, I know it can take YEARS for some people to increase 130 points. Also someone just told me that child support is not taken into account for FICO scores so that could help us quite a bit!
Great news! Happy to hear that hard work paid off it's always so great to hear good news from a regular forum member. As for that balance, the experts say to keep it under 10 percent, but I've not seen FICO confirm this one. Might be worth paying it down another $1,000 or so just to see what happens. Either way, congrats!
Thanks Jason! It's definitely exciting... I checked our FICO scores today, mine is 764 and the hubbys is 609 Unfortunately child support accounts do show on FICO reports and thats the one account he has with some lates from arrears. On the FICO website they say that FICO high achievers have an average utility of 7%, so I'm going to shoot for that on our next statement and see what happens!
