    Haaaaa !

We received approval today on a vehicle loan from out Credit Union !!! 4.49% APR ! For 60 months, their nominal rate is 5.49%. We managed to get their Gold MC last month (9.95%) and that got us 0.5% off of the loan rate. Also, they have a gimmick this summer where you spin a wheel to get an additional discount. There was ONE 0% APR spot, about 4 or 5 0.5% off spots, and around 20 or so 0.25% off spots. We missed the 0% but at least we hit a 0.5% off spot !

This was big on our list of goals. That, along with refinancing our house (from 8% to 5.625% on 4/23/03), was the main driver that brought me here to figure out how to get this stuff done without paying through the nose (after a 1/97 BK7).

We're over the hump and picking up the vehicle tomorrow at 1 p.m. ! :D

My thanks to EVERY single one of you here for all of your help !!!

All of the answers, as well as questions !, helped me learn what I needed to get us through this.

Now, on to getting the BK stuff scraped off !

I'm soooo tempted, but I don't want to piss off GEORGE since it was he who pointed out the use of the Ignore List and prompted me to place IT on there !

No **** is gonna spoil my sense of accomplishment !

    LOL !

    Thanks !

We got a 2003 Toyota RAV4-L, 4WD, ABS and various goodies.

We have a 1991 Toyota Previa mini-van for our sizable family which we are running into the ground and I have a '95 Saturn I drive back and forth to work. PLUS our first (of 4 total) dreaded 16 year old unmarried unschooled male drivers has just erupted upon our household ! (others are yet 12, 8, and 3)

This seemed like the perfect vehicle to fit our needs because DW needs RELIABLE 4WD errand and kid transport vehicle and it gives me and my sons something to get reliably to my parents farm for fall scouting and winter deer hunting.

Woulda liked that 2004 Toyota Previa or a 2003 Honda Pilot but they cost 50% more than the RAV-4. We would have bought slightly used to save even more $ but this vehicle really fit the bill and I swear it had our name on it when we saw it !

We caved in on the spot. They dealer claimed that I negotiated it to only $300 over invoice but Consumer Reports says we got it for more like $800 over invoice. Aaaah, what the hell, we had the battle plan all set up and had denied ourselves so long, we let the dealer make a little gravy on the deal.

DW initially wanted a Toyota Matrix as our compromise but I thought very little of that as a deer hunting vehicle. LOL ! When I pointed out that the Matrix was an immature model, was mediocre in both the small SUV class and wagon class, was in short supply, and the RAV-4 had years of history, was second only to a BMW (or some such) in Consumer Reports' small SUV class, AND was in EXCELLENT supply, I won ! (evil grin...)

Well, I told you alot more than you asked but I think you understand how I feel kinda gushy !

The 16 year old will get to drive the 12 year old Toyota Previa mini-van and, by golly, he's gonna like it, even if he thinks it's "so gay" ! (He'll understand better in a few years if he gets a "hot date" !)

I admire a man of few words but you always keep a detailed oriented guy like me on my toes !

I HOPE the above meant you know me as someone who will NOT waste my time by reading IT's answers !

(as opposed to: I wouldn't be wasting my time if I would only read IT'S answers...)

    LOL !

    Fingers crossed ...

I'm chuckling.....TOTALLY relate! Our oldest (of 4 - 3b, 1g) turned 16 this year too. Fortunately the others are a little further behind (9,6,4). Anyway, he gets to drive the good ol' '91 Cavalier that keeps pluggin' along! Dh has been communting 80 mi/day in that car for the past year! But alas, it's time to admit we need another vehicle. Dh definitely needs something more dependable and with better gas mileage. He saw that I got better transpo. for our large crew last year ('99 Voyager), so I guess it's his turn this year.
Not sure what we want yet, but it will definitely be used. He and I do a top-notch "good cop/bad cop" at the dealership, so I'm actually looking forward to car shopping. BTW, I'm the "bad cop." LOL!

    Congrat's C -

Now... it would make my day if someone told me how to use ignore...

    Ignore.

See the blue "account" menu button at the top of the page? Click it. Then you'll see a grey menu button for "ignore"- click that one. Then you just have to type in the username of those you want to ignore. HTH!)

    Thanks Coda.

Let me know if you need a recommendation for the first "thing" to add to your ignore list !

    LOL !
