Was approved for Amex Blue, 4500 cl. Pretty pleased even if the rate is 12.9. BT of 7.9. I transferred a couple smaller cards, 2k total. Scores are in the 700 to 720 range. 3yrs history. Just recently paid down 10k on my cards. 8k bal left. With my blue success, I tried BofA and Discover as well, as I want to BT the remaining 6k, which is up to 20%. BofA gave the "24 hours" and check again routine. Discover sent email saying "up to 4 weeks". Now for the kicker. I applied for BT's for both of these with the same accounts, hoping at least one of them would be approved. The Discover definately has the better BT deal, but I was not instantly approved, so, I may be stuck with the BofA deal if they approve tomorrow. How long does it take them to get their BT deal together (cut checks to other creditors). I could really use Discover's 0% for 12 mo. deal, but may not be able to wait that long, and may have to call to cancel the app if BofA approves. Do I have to activate the cards before they do BT?
When I did the Amex Blue BT the payment arrived a day or two after I received my card so I think they didn't wait for it to be activated - with Discover it took a couple of weeks so I guess they did wait until the card was activitated. Neil
First of all, Congratulations! If I'm reading this correctly, you used the same account numbers that had a balance and submitted the same numbers to each creditor you applied with for a BT? If that is the case, you may want to call and cancel the other BT requests after the first one is approved. Most co.s are fast with transfers and do not need you to activate the card before doing so. I did the same as you and even though the first co. transferred the balance ( I forgot to cancel the other one), the second co. also sent a transfer which left a huge credit on my account. Had to request a check be sent to me. Just a heads up.
Well, looks like the dilema has been solved for me. Declined by BofA. "Number of bank/national trades with balances 75% of high credit." So, that doesn't break my heart. I guess my ego got the better of me for as long as it took to hit the submit button, and thought I'd grab another prime card. So, I guess I can wait to see what Discover says now, and maybe I'll try Chase. I don't plan on applying for any more credit for a couple years, so I'm not too concerned with a few inquiries. May as well take these 700 scores out for a spin and see what they can do! I may just wait to see what Discover says first. Their 0% at 12 months BT is really attractive to me at this point, and I'd much prefer that deal over the BofA or the Chase 0% for 6 months deal. How long does it take Discover to get back to you with a "up to 4 weeks" reply?
discover takes about 2 weeks to complete your application process. u can call 1-800 discover and ask for the status.
