Anyone know from experience what the impact on your score is for having a finance company loan? When retrieving my bureau, this was listed as one of the factors affecting my score. I am assuming that Citifinancial is the culprit.

Also.. anyone find the score profile from worthknowing.com low, compared to their fico scores? Ouch! It says my score is a 15!

I have been turned down for credit for the sole reason of "Too many finance company accounts"

That is when I found out the all of my student loans which were through Sallie Mae were considered finance company accounts.

stafford loans are government backed loans but can be administered by different types of organizations, only Direct loans are administered by the Dept. of Education.

sorry, I don't think administered was the right term.
    Serviced it the better term.

My worthknowing is a 5 and my FICO is 670. I don't think I'll even get to be a 50+, I'd probably have to own Fair-Isaacs

    George and "the other",

I was fuming when I found out that my Sallie Mae accounts were classed
as "finance" accounts, too! I have NO idea how a federal student loan
can be serviced by a "finance company", but that's exactly how its reported.

I also found Sallie Mae to be very disorganized when it came to credit
reporting wrt to other issues. I'm glad I switched all my Sallie Mae accounts
    to Direct Loans.
