I am hoping that you will be able to direct me to an information source. I need to obtain a copy of the credit card holder agreement that American Express was using in August of 1997, and in particular the terms of the flight insurance coverage provided when buying air fare tickets with the card. I am pursuing the issue with American Express, but I have little trust in what they will tell me the terms were back in '97. Is there some independent source for this type of information to which you can point me? Thanks very much.

    Kristi-

I have every American Express Statement I have ever received since 1994. I have been a member of the Travelers Insurance Plan, along with the Luggage Plan, since around 1996-1997.

I am in the process of preparing a dispute over these charges with American Express as the first time I went to use this Insurance Plan, when my luggage was lost for three days, they failed to pay saying my return trip home was not covered, only my outgoing trip.

This statement is totally contradicting to what they told me when selling me the policy.

They have also billed me on several occasions for tickets I purchased for companions- even though companions cannot be covered by the insurance plans. They knew this at the time of billing yet billed me anyway.

This is one of the reasons for my complaints of degrading customer service at American Express.

Please let me know if anything I have may be of use to you.

    My email option is on.

Kristy... I don't have the documents that you're looking for from 1997, but I might draw your attention to the fact that credit card companies usually update the terms and conditions annually and mail a copy of the revised information quietly with a statement. Are you sure that it's 1997 you need?

    Just thought I'd mention it........

No, this is on an old claim - it's rather a complicated subject.

But I see what you are saying - if I purchased the agreement in 1997, the current terms are not per 1997, they are per now.

    Krisit-

    Got out my paperwork-

I have my Baggage statement from 1997 dated July 6 and my Insurance statement from 1998 dated Dec 3.

I know I have every on from '94, I keep all that crap. I just don't have it my file here for my complaint.

I will update you by email tomorrow morning.

Do you have the 97 Insurance statement bkev?

I know that Major Credit Cards , even with the standard and platinum products, have lost luggage protection if you ever need.. I used to work in the Customer Satisfaction Department of a Major Credit Card Company, and I used to get calls from Customers all the time with a situation like yours.. As prestigious as American Express claims to be, I find it disturbing that they are not giving you any assistance.. Keep after them, write a letter to the Customers Advocate Office if it needs to be done.. I wish you luck , and am sorry for your misfortune..

Let us know how you make out..
