Fingerhut Acquisition Ok, there is a "hard" inquiry on my report 2 months after I opened my piddly Fingerhut account. It only had a $200.00 limit, but hey, I needed to have a little something on there. In any case, if you are not aware, Federated Department Stores began looking for a buyer for Fingerhut on January 16, 2002. The announcement was made on January 17, 2002 that Federated wanted to sell and on the same day, the on-line shopping website was "taken down." Ironically, Fingerhut pulled a "hard" inquiry on January 17, 2002! It is listed as "New Account." I am really upset about this because I obviously did not request another account with them 2 months later - and even if I did, since they were no longer taking orders, why would they even OFFER me credit and run another report? I want to get this removed but did they do something that is a total violation? I mean to me, it seems that they intentionally did something funny. According to what I am researching, they were attempting to find a company to take over their account receivables (my account balance was ZERO) so maybe they were just trying to get "their ducks in a row." Do I just ask for deletion based on no permissable use, or is there something out there with a little more teeth that I can snag them with? Thanks
Re: Fingerhut Acquisition Ugggg.....I misspelled acquisition in the first posting and I can't get it to come up right now.
