Just saw this on YahooBiz news that Federated Department stores will be closing the Fingerhut divison as soon as possible. No real mention on if you have a card with them what will happen. Thought a few people with cards through them might be interested.

George, I think my limit was $800 when they first converted, and they raised it to $1300 (as if I would have ever used that much)

My mother has $3900 limit with them, but it's through Axsys Bank. She doesn't use it though, their stuff is overpriced BS.

heh i've got an old tradeline from axsys bank. Lame credit limit, but duh fingerhut was such a ripoff. like 100% inflation on prices how could anyone be so dumb as to order from there. Everything i looked at in the electronics dept was 50-100% higher in prices than local shopping stores. They must prey off the feeble minded..

Hey folks...take it easy. I've had a Fingerhut account for about 18 months now and I hardly consider myself feeble minded. YES, the stuff is overpriced BUT it is a solid tradeline for me.

I'm not saying I buy stuff everyday from them but I have purchased maybe 4 or 5 items from them over those 18 months. At the time, B4 I knew about secured/unsecured cards, they were the only ones to extend me credit at all and I've been rewarded with a "Open/Never Late" notation.

I like to think of it as a necessary evil.

tmitchell, I agree, please don't think I was putting Fingerhut down. Yes their stuff is overpriced, but I knew that going in. I have bought stuff from there, including my mantel clock, that I didn't see anywhere else but fell in love with in the catalog, towels, desperately needed pots and pans, etc. Ya do what ya gotta do!

I've got an account too. However, I've never purchased a thing from them. An online electronics store handtech.com used to take Fingerhut's card. Before they stoped I purcashed a fax machine, printer, and other stuff. I guess I will pay Fingerhut off now and keep my proof.
