I went online and found what I thought is the resident agent for Drive Financial Services. Apparently Drive Financial is owned/operated by Santander Consumer USA. When I filed the small claim I indicated Drive Financial as the company and Santander as the resident agent. The court wrote back and said they need the resident agent for both. So I found a resident agent for Santander, but I can only find CT Corporation System for Drive Financial. Another question, should the resident agent be located in the same state that I live or where the company is located. I'm clueless, but I got this far, just need a little more help, ANYONE PLEASE. Service is pending my getting back to the court with the correct information.
The registered agent can be anywhere as far as I know. If they are involved in a lawsuit their attorney can act as their registered agent to receive legal papers in that action. The best way to find the registered agent for any corporation is to call up the Secretary of State in the state they are incorporated in or any state in which they might be registered as a foreign corporation. That is one of the functions of the Secretary of State everywhere. Have correct contact information for the registered agent for any corporation they have listed in their records either as being incorporated in that state or as being registered as a foreign corporation.
re: agent CT is the registered agent, you can call information and get their phone number like I did. Call them and get all their info from their secretary and have them served. Simple enough.
