I applied for this card about three weeks ago. They took out $89 from my checking account, and I haven't received anything yet. Then today in the mail I got a letter from FNBM with a new application, asking for $49. I hope they're not scamming me out of $89 because if I don't cancel within 30 days after they take money out of my checking account, they keep the enrollment fee. (The rest of the fee is charged to the CC account, which is an extra $20.95 + 200.00 security deposit.) I hope someone out there has had dealings with this bank, and can tell me if I'm just being paranoid. Lomb.
I would definitely look into it! I have had the card since 99. Never had any problems with them. Customer svc has been pretty good too. I can't remember the "fees" when I opened my account. CL increases come every 6 months but you have to call, and they only come around $100. No account info online either ( Hope this helps!
Lombrosis... I used to work for FNBM. The $89 enrollment fee + $20.95 when card arrives is what the telemarketers offer. You do not want this. Call them up, tell them you have a friend who has the card, and they told you about it. This is called "Tell a friend" program. With this, the enrollment fee is only $99 ($21 less than what the telemarketers charge), or ask if the special for the $49 enrollment fee for gold card is still going on. If it is, go for that one, save yourself $70.
I wish I knew that before I paid the full boat of fees back when I got the card in July. They gave me an $800 limit.
