Anyone heard of First National Card? CCS? It's one of those Catalog cards. They claim you can get cash advances.

    no interest charges etc.

They send the card in the mail. It's has 16 digits and looks like a credit card. What a crock.

I also received a letter from the good people at CCS First National Card.

The letter stated that I was approved for this card..
And that I had a credit purchase limit of $6,500
And to top it off there is no interest rate charges

Now... im 17 years old and im not even old enough to own a card and im not a complete moron either so if you received a letter like this dont be an idiot and send them $200-$500 to activate your card and dont send more money to buy products from the limited catalogues you are allowed to purchase from.

Ooh, and some of those cards like that don't even report! The inquiry when they 'preapproved' you is there, and nothing else.
In some cases, when cards like that hit yer report, it actually lowers your score.

Remember Creditcorp? (hiding face in shame cause I accepted one when I didn't know any better) - they didn't report, but that stupid inquiry sat there like lump.

Anyhoo - you guys are right, and YEAH, stay away from cards like that.
