I got a First Premier card over a year ago with a crummy $250 limit. I thought it would be a good card to help rebuild my credit.

I pay more than the minimum payment every month, use the card regularly and have paid it down to a zero balance several times in the past 13 months.

Last week, I called about getting a credit increase and they said it would be sent to the credit department.

I got a letter today that says that I was denied an increase! What a bunch of crap.

I will be paying off the balance and cancelling this card this week! No sense wasting my time with them.

Not only do you start off with a $250 credit limit, about $200 of that is already used on fees before you activate the card! And don't they CHARGE you for a credit line increase?

Yeah they do charge you for a credit increase. I started off with $300 limit and they just increased it to $400. I've had the card a little over a year now. I don't know how much this is helping my scores, but for now I'll keep it. BTW, I have never paid it down to zero balance. I keep it low, about $100, but I keep paying on it hoping that it will help.
