Ok, so does anyone have horror stories about FPB? I have one card from them only 3 months ago and I am wondering if I have gotten myself into a Crap 1 job or what? I know they charge for everything under the sun but, I am willing to part with some dough to get a pos. on my CR's. So far having it has helped me to start building on my low scores. Thanks to anyone who has any input.

heh heh...crap1 all the way, baby, lol

I have one too. Yes, it has helped my repair process. BUT they have even more fees than crap1.

also, i have a late pay that wasnt my fault. They wont remove it. It was 2 years ago and tried goodwill letter. *razzberry*

I hate em, but my card is still open, lol. I have a whoopie-doo 350 cl.

So, are they full of it with the limit increases every six months or do you have to request and pay for them? Ever since I got the thing I sent a payment of $30 before I even for the first statement and then another $25 when the statment came and I make atleast a $20 payment every 2 weeks as to not get into a situation of a "lost" payment that will just so happen to make them an extra $30 or so. I have so learned a lot since I trashed my credit a month after turning 18.

From my experience, yes, they are full of it. I have had the card since 9/2000. The late pay was in Feb of 01. Got my very 1st cl increase in December of 02. It was 100 bux. It cost me 25 bux. They did it after I complained about the late and stated what a good standing I had with them when I requested they remove the late that was their fault. No removal. They just did cl increase without me knowing until I got statement showing $25 charge for doing so.

Now, they charge a fee to pay your bill online. The pay by phone charge is like 10 dollars. I say this because ever since they raised the fees for this, I haven't been getting my statements until abou 4 days before the due date. I dont wanna chance a late pay, so I MUST use their payment options. I hate them!!!! It is a total scam.

    Pox on f.b.

I had a FPB card, they put 3 late pays from 1999 they refuse to remove... never late. I closed it when I found out what they had done and they refused to correct it. They suck, but hubby needed credit card, and they were his best option... you do what you have to do, I guess.

If you can't get anything else, it's a good card to get. Our credit was so bad, and they gave us one. Yes the fees are outrageous, but they are taking a chance, ppl like me that have proven their inability to pay for whatever reason in the past. As my credit is getting better, they are pissing me off more and more (for example, I just paid the card off, but my $7 fee for paying it online and then I think $5 participation fee, I will always have a balance!!)

I started with a $350 CL 7/2001 and 6 mths later I had to pay $25 to get a $100 increase. I just got another increase last month (a *free* increase LOL) to where I am now at $550.

Regardless of the fees, I have been happy with them, beggar's can't be choosers in the game of credit apparently!!

I read something on here that (oer a fpb rep) once an account is closed by the consumer, they will automatically verify any disputes from CRA. They actually purge all the account history at that point. Not sure how long it takes them. Someone made a post about it not too long ago. Do a search first premier. One of the cra's verified info this way and the consumer called the cra, explained what happened and the cra did a manual investigation.

I opened a FPB card about two years ago when my credit was rather deplorable. They offered me a unsecured card w/a $250 limit, which was fine with me to reestablish....but when I got my first bill, they had charged me $250 in fees just to open the account! I was outraged & cancelled immediately. Of course, I would expect to pay a "membership fee" and exorbitant interest rates for being a high credit risk, but that was ridiculous. Later I opened a Cap1, they gave me a $300 limit w/introductory zero interest for 4 months, and an annual fee of $59. I would definitely recommend them over some of the other subprime cards. As with any subprime creditor, if you are ever late, they will charge you fee on top of fee, so the key is be on time (tip: pay online--it's free). Another reason to pay online is you have a record of when you sent in payment. Unfortunately if you mail your payment in a few days before the due date, they will sit on it and process it after the due date in order to assess more fees. (Pretty sleazy tactic, there.) One other negative is that their CSRs are incompetent and obstinate; but I have found that if you ever have a problem, demand to speak to a supervisor higher up the food chain--they are usually able and willing to resolve problems amicably. So, in my experience, they are all terrible, but Cap1 is probably the best.

I've had the secured "Future" card through First Premier for a year now.

Opened it with a $200 savings deposit. My cl is $200. They charge me $20 a year for having an add'l card and $69 for an annual fee.

Have never been late on the card. My minimum payments, when I actually have a balance- is $20. I always send a minimum of $50.

Have requested a cl increase twice on the card- denied. Applied for an unsecured card- told I only qualified for their secured card program.

The way I see it, I can get a secured card through anyone. Cap One just gave me a $500 cl after I secured it with a $99 deposit.

The only reason I'm keeping the account open is because I need the history. I'm more than happy to give Cap One or Orchard my business.

Well, I asked for a manual investigation, it bummed out. Said 'already investigated'. Any ideas? I am about to go NUTCASE!

Hmm...aside from closing the account and waiting for their system to purge your info...I dunno.

I disputed it with TU...verified the lates. HOWEVER...I checked my EQ and it was gone. The tl is still r1, but the lates are gone. I never disputed it with eq at all. Rest assured, it will probably follow the course things have been lately...it will more than likely get reupdated next month with the lates again, lol.

Let me think about this one. On the tu, I disp as paid as agreed and the cl was wrong. Apparently they "verified" the incorrect cl as being true. Go figure.

Like I said, let me think...
