Does any one know about this bank? I just called them to find out which cra they pull - they told me Equifax - which is where i have the least inquires - so I'm thinking of applying. Anybody have any experience with them - and - how are their inital credit lines? thanx in advance guys
Hi Mark - I have relatives in KY and TENN. I do know that First Tenn is quite large with a lot of branches. Don't know their rate but the bank is real. Best r egards - dogman
Up until about one and a half years ago, they issued card themselves; But then they quit doing that; now their bank cards are really from MBNA and just co-branded with their logo.
First Tennessee is our local bank. They gave me a First BusinessLine VISA with a whopping $38,000 LOC. We also have our mortgage through them (and our checking and savings accounts as well). Their customer service is excellent, and their FTBonline.com site is terrific as well. I heartily recommend them for anything. Doc P.S. We'll shortly move clear across our long state from Knoxville to Memphis, and I plan to use First Tennessee for our new mortgage there. If it hadn't been for Creditnet I would have never felt confident about applying for a new mortgage. Thanks everybody (and especially Lizardking, Marie, breeze, marci, bbauer, and LKH).
Psych Doc, I'm originally from a city outside of Memphis (lil ol' town called Millington). Lots to do in the city. I'm sure you all will like it there. Knoxville is a beautiful city too. Good luck with your move!
Thanks! I was actually born in Memphis (at the venerable Baptist Hospital -- the old one in mid-town). We're moving to Germantown. I'm familiar with Millington as being home to an army base (and perhaps that's not true anymore, not sure). Right now, we live out near Seymour, although we're still in Knox County. It`s always nice to speak with a fellow Volunteer lol! Doc
I lived in Memphis for many years (my dad's a pilot for FedEx) and only recently moved back to California, which is where I was born. Germantown is the wealthiest Memphis suburb (in fact, I believe it's the wealthiest city in the state of TN). It's very quaint, very Republican, and very preppy. If you have kids, you'll like it. The schools there are good. I graduated from Germantown High when it was the only high school in the area, but I think there are two more there now. Basically, if it's diversity you want, you'll be outta luck. But if you want a nice, safe place to raise a family, you'll love it!
I apologize for this being off topic, but one of you Memphis folks might be able to help me. I need to find an attorney who would be licensed to practice in Mississippi and who is reasonably well versed in estate law. I've got some estate / real estate documents I need for someone to look at. (My east Tennessee lawyer wants to make sure he's not missing something... long and boring story.) If any of you folks can recommend someone I'd appreciate it.
As a misplaced Northern living in Memphis briefly in the late 90's, I can say I used and love First Tennessee Bank. Within the first month living there I had my purse stolen at work, First Tenn went beyond the call of duty to help me out. I had overdraft protection for my checking but the guy wiped out my saving as well as my checking accounts. First Tenn honored my overdraft and waived all fees on the checks that I wrote prior to the purse being stolen even thought I didnâ??t have any money in my saving account. They even had a member of bank delivered my new checks to me at work. (This crook got the keys to my apartment and mailbox, First Tenn. wanted to make sure that the new checks didn't get in this guys hands.) I would recommend them to anyone. On a personal note, I loved living in Memphis. The first couple of weeks I was so confused, "How could Interstate 240 go both East and West and North and South"?? I was told that Northern use to many words in their sentences, i.e.. Northern: Have you eaten yet? Southern: Eat yet? My DH and I visited in 2000 and the one of the first thing I had to do was have a pulled pork sandwich at the Pig n Whistle. Wasn't Memphis in May last weekend? Sorry got off topic there.
D - isn't that a great song? I had the whole CD playinglast Sunday (no one else at home) and the dogs watched me dance around the house. Are you able to catch him in concert this year?
IrishDiva I just got the album last week too; it hit 77 degrees on Sunday so we lay by the pool, drank margaritas and listened to the new album. Life was good. I've seen him 6 years running I'm not going to miss him this year. Now that he plays only Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays that doesn't leave many dates open. I remember back in the day when he'd come and play three days but now we were lucky enough to see him in November. So far Detroit is not on his tour list, but that was the same last year. I've traveled just to catch a second show; I'll do it again.
Memphis is May is all month long now! Beale street music fest was last weekend The barbeque contest is May 16-18 and the end of the month is the Sunset Symphony. They block Riverside drive for the whole month of May as well. Then June 8th Tyson will fight Lewis at the Pyramid. When I first moved here the weirdest sentence I thought was "I'm fixin' to fix dinner." MIM has a website as well. I think it is http://www.memphisinmay.org
I'm a Volunteer too!! I had my checking account at FT and I liked them well enough. Unfortunately one of our credit cards was issued through a sister company I guess, FT MTG and we had to close it out during our bk. I was bummed but we had to do it, it was a decent bank and right down the street!
