Ok, have a question. Is First really just prime? Their terms seem more mixed. WHo has one? Who's been denied? what are your scores/circumstances? I'm having an odd day. I applied for a FIRST USA visa a week before Citgo. Found out today denied. When I called they told me they didn't have my score (they used Equifax) but there was a "risk score" of 549. Good god. Earlier today I called Citgo. Got my score: 632. How could a score vary THAT much in a week?
I think First Usa is tough to get. I started building my credit in June 99, at the time I only had one installment account with a 12 month history. I was getting weekly mailings from Prov and for the heck of it I applied online for the Aria card, I got instant approval for the platinum 5k!! After that offers starting coming in including FUSA, well I applied and was DENIED for lack of credit history, about a year later I applied again and same denial for same reason. You mentioned scores dropping, there is a pretty interesting thread over at bayhouse about a couples scores that dropped dramatically in a matter of days while they were mortgage shopping, it was pretty hard to believe, but the thread shows the actual report from the first day it was pulled and then the next time it was pulled, of course all personal areas are blackend out. I am not sure if they would drop that much in that short period of time. It has been said that it is always best to have your reports pulled at the end of the month, not sure if there is any truth to it, so I could see scores may very from beginning/mid month to end of the month but I can't see it being very drastic.
The First USA guy thought it may have been an internal score: they take our info and change it to fit their model. Who knows. It just that both pulled Equifax. Odd. Just wondering out loud. I do know the 632 is my last Beacon score... so I'm not really sweating it. just wanting feedback/ experiential advice.
PLEASE stay away from First USA! I had such a horrible time with them...they lied, they over charged, they really had no clue---they have a serious internal communication problem and they lie. Whew--- AnnMarie
Thanks Thanks AnnMarie... you're making me feel better. I just noticed the 2 cycle average daily balance. Uh, no thanks. Well sometimes things happen for the best. I just got inspired and applied for Target! Approved 300 limit! God I love my Experian report!!
Re: Thanks i think First USA is tough to get even my brother got perfect credit .He got denied. I got lucky to get Yahoo card two years ago and last year I applied for Smart Visa. They approved it. It seems First USA scoring system denied everyone with good credit and bad credit just like Capital One.
