My husband received an offer from First USA for a Titanium card. I currently have the AOL Visa Platinum with First USA and had been getting ready to write them to ask for an APR decrease. My APR is currently 19.99% (punitive for a few days late payment abt. a year ago, I think). Anyway, I think the standard APR for the one I have is 17.99% now. The Titanium standard rate is 13 or 14% but they have an into of 0% for abt 6 months on balance transfers. I no longer use AOL and am going to cancel my AOL service next week before my new billing date. As a result the AOL Visa reward points will mean nothing to me.

    Questions:

Has anyone been able to change a card with the same issuer to another one?

Has anyone been able to change a card with the same issuer to one with better terms?

If so...how did you do it?

If so...do they open a new trade line on your Credit Reports?

If so...did they have to do a new hard inquiry or as a current customer of the issuer were you able to get them to do it without inquiry or only with a soft (account review) inquiry?

Thanks in advance for any answers.
