A week ago I receive my new FUSA Plat. card. Applied for card from mailer I received (same offer 10X plus in the mail).

With card in hand I call to take advantage of no transfer fee 0% for 6 months balance transfer.

Transfer $6,000 to various cards. CL $11,500. Make a few purchases, gas, dinner etc. as purchases also have 0% for 6 months.

Get call over the weekend, Sir, are these all your charges? She reads off 7 charges and I confirm with security person, yes my charges. Thank you for your concern.

Today, card DECLINED!! I call, new CL $6,300. Now I am upset. Customer service rep, "yes sir they lowered your CL." Let me transfer you as I can not see the reason for the change.

    (Sorry so long but venting!!)

New account rep, "Sir your account was due for a credit review and you are carrying to high a % of balances on your cards" (tell me something new).

I applied for card on 6-15. Credit review on 7-1??? Credit score unchanged (Experian unchanged from the 15th except down 5 points for another HARD!! They pulled another HARD inquiry!!!)

Once, I got home and checked account on-line they raised the CL $200 (to $6,500) to just cover any outstanding purchases so I would not exceed limit.

I decided not to cancel account as I will use their 0% for the 6 months.

Any ideas on what to do.
Here, I'll start. Pay down CC balances and get rid of FUSA!
Thanks for listening (reading). Just felt like I got bent over!

Wow...I am so glad I am not a customer of FUSA anymore. This is some messed up stuff!

Stick with your plan and use them for the 0% but after 6 months GET RID OF THEM ASAP!

Don't feel bad...they did the same thing to me. I was going through financial hardship and they lowered my credit limit from like $10k to $6k and after they added finance charges (I was almost at $6k) that put me over the limit and they charged me fees for this as well! Long story...but I'm glad I'm gone and done with them. Whatever...I know what credit card companies got my back!

That second hard after issuing you the card is improper....no permissible purpose.

Was there a neg on your TU or EFX that was not on your EXP?

No negatives on any report. As far as I can tell they only pulled experian.

"As far as you can tell".....I would check on TU which is what I thought they typically pull.....either there's an AR or there isn't.

Call them up and get rid of the hard.

If there are really no other dings and no other ARs your spending pattern spooked them.

    This board is really helpful...
I was approved for Fusa last week - for 12K - arranged for a bt when I applied of 1.5K - was GOING to do another one - but after reading this post - decided to hold off on further bt's with Fusa - pay it off as quickly as I can - and basically just have the card to improve credit utilization percentages.
Btw - has anyone had their Fusa cl lowered for NOT using the card????

I had a First USA card, they pulled a similar stunt on me.

My advice is to call FUSA and demand the original CL, or else you will close the account immediately. If they don't bite (they will probably offer some kind of comprimise), then you can close the account, and continue to pay it off for 6 months at 0%. If they think they can screw with you, they will. I'm NOT a fan of FUSA at all.

Thanks for the posts. Rather than get into a big fight/battle that I would have trouble winning, I will keep this card maxxed until the 6 months are about up and pay off. I actually got this card to improve my ratios. Still amazing that they changed the account within 15 days.
Live and learn. At the end of 6 months off to the open but not active. Will probably charge 15 cents every few months just to aggravate them.
They already posted to Experian showing balance of $6000 with CL of $11,500. Guess even they could not keep up with how quickly they shrunk my CL.

Big game of gotcha!! I will never ever deal with these people no matter what they offer me. What tricksters. They saw, or could have seen your balances before they ever gave you the card. Slimey sleaze.

They are hoping to stick you with OTL charges, or may try to say your payment was "late" - then they get to give you the default interest rate, and bury you under a mountain of debt.

I don't know how they could not have seen the balances ahead of time. The only thing that may have made a difference would have been to do balance transfers at the time of application. FUSA seems to play dirty indeed.

People need to learn that FUSA is nothing but one huge SCAM organization !!!!! These posts are typical of FUSA's history of this sort of thing.

There have been (don't know if any are still active) many class-action suits against this scumbag bank. The have been smacked repeatedly for their illegal practices and still they continue !!

There was a story on one of the prime-time news shows (PrimeTime, 60 minutes.. one of those) on this rotten bank a couple of years ago and there were a LOT of people with horror stories to tell. All FUSA offered to the interviewer was some dumb blonde chick who'd been given a 3-line script to use for every single question asked of her, all of it a company line of BS.

Had I known of this bank's tactics, I'd have NEVER taken their card. I cancelled it 3-4 months after getting it because of their stunts. At one time there was an FUSA-scam site, but I don't know if it still exists, but they had hundreds and hundreds of posts from FUSA victims and quite a few from ex-employees who told their own scary stories.

NEVER take and FUSA card, one way or they other, they WILL screw you over !!

    Mark,
I think the important thing for anyone who has any debt on a First USA card to do is to have a backup plan if/when FUSA decides to screw around with you. Make sure there is always somewhere else you can transfer any balances to. If they don't mess around with you...GREAT. If they do, you've got yourself covered and can pay them to zero within a week and sock drawer the card until they wanna play nice again. That's what I did. And I am one of the most adament FUSA haters around. I didn't close the card because I knew it helped with ratios at a time when I had much higher balances than I do now.

However, now, almost a year later with a zero balance for almost all that time they have made me a bt offer of 4.9% w/no fee and have raised my CL by $2500. They also lowered my regular purchase rate (it's still too high at 14.9% but the gesture was appreciated.) I took the offer for a transfer and they did an AR right away on EX. All was fine there so they haven't messed with me yet but if they do, I have 3 other places I could choose to BT off their card and sock drawer it again.

The key thing is to EXPECT them to be watching for any reason at all to jack rates, lower your CL, and put you in a pickle. I always pay online once every TWO WEEKS for two payments per cycle so they will never be able to trap me into the 'late payment' scam. I make sure to verify posting of those funds. You have to be religious about it.

I have two cards with First USA and two of three cards has been opened for over two years. They lowered my Yahoo Visa and Fusion Card because I have excellent payment history. By the way, there is no credit limit increase so far with them. I didn't use that much on the card each month and I didn't do balance transfer even they sent me the BT checks. So far I don't have any problems with them. Recently I received pre-select offers from them for Cash-in Platinum Card and ExtraOrdinary Rewards Visa.

Just done reading some opinions on Epinions.com. Credit section on FUSA. Just made me realize I am dealing with people that are not very nice (wanted to use some really colorful language here!!).
So I will plan to have their card paid off by the time the 0% offer expires. Just amazing at the stunts they pull.
    Live and learn.
