sent my first validation letter out today..nervous about it. anything I should be doing while waiting for the green card and/or the CA's reply? -i made a copy of the signed letter i sent them -i have the reciept for the certified mail -i've got a copy of my credit reports printed out from the www
NOT THINK ABOUT IT )) It'll drive you nuts!! I had my first validation CRRR receipt on my fridge...BIG MISTAKE. Every time I got a drink, a sandwich, or even walked by the kitchen it reminded me of how many days it had been since I mailed out the letter. It was like looking at the clock during my last class and watching the second hand creep slower and slower towards 3:00 PM...tick tock...tick tock. Ahhhhhhhhh! CA-water torture. Seriously relax, there's nothing to do but wait for the green card. Good Luck! -peace, Dave

And I just thought you were just used to repeating yourself over the cellular static. LOL. Gawd I've seen too many commercials. Gib
Have you disputed it with the CRAs? Butch brought up the idea of disputing with the CRAs at the same time you request validation. I don't remember everything that was discussed, but here is the thread. http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...threadid=28471&perpage=20&pgnum=&pagenumber=1 I seem to remember that if the CRA verified at the same time you are in validation then you would chalk up a violation.
would i risk them marking my dispute as 'frivilous'? i just disputed it last month and it came back 'verified' on a side note, another tradeline i disputed (different collector, same account) was updated and removed on EQ DOL 4/95, but updated with a different date DOL 11/95 and remains on EX and TU..whats up with that?
Usually you can get away with two "not mine" reasons before they deny your request or label you "frivolous". You might want to try "wrong amount", "wrong date" or something like that. I didn't remember I had disputed something twice in 4-6 weeks as "not mine", so when I tried again EXP just said, "You already tried that twice". I said, "Oh. OK" and let it go. That CA is going to end up seeing me in court anyway.
Butch did a great job of summarizing that idea. However, I would recommend you dispute a couple days after you get the green cards back, not when you send the validation letter. It would get them because the response from the CRA has to be in 30 days. The CA has the added requirement to respond to the verification with the account "in-dispute". Hope you get them on another violation. You (and Butch) are correct, if they are in the validation period, they should stop all collection activity (reporting to the CRA's) and if/when the validation fails you would have them on another violation. -Peace, Dave
im going to attempt to leave this one with just the validation letters and see where that gets me. I know for a fact the info they are supplying to the CRA is incorrect..so my hopes are that i will be vindicated. my main reason for this is that although I hate equifax with a passion, I do not want to make them anymore non-responsive than they already are. plus I have proof that I just disputed this line and it was verified with the wrong date on 8/1/2002 (which is why I now am validating) I want to be able to dispute this with EQ with no problems when the validation procedure is complete. does this make sense? now I just hope they reply to my satisfaction.
dave, was typing that before i saw your post. thanks for the advice. the account wasnt even actively being collected on. I don't want incorrect info on my report. the original account fell off of it 4/95 Ill do like you are both recommending and submit a dispute at the appropriate time. stupid question maybe..but when are they required to report that the account is in dispute to the CRA? From my reading, I believe it is 5 days s from the date they recieve my first validation letter, is this correct? so i get the green card, and if it is 5 days past the time the green card was signed for, i dispute.
i actually created 3 id's..for the first two i never got the email reply because my ISP is using SPAMASSASIN, which seems to not like emails from creditnet.com..so had to use a hotmail.com account and i ran out of ID ideas. Went with imlost, because truthfully..im still lost alot of reading to do still.
My green cards came back, signed for on the 12th. I disputed w/ the CRA's yesterday. I'll print out the reports again this week, showing that it's not marked in dispute by the CA's. I think I have the time frame right. This is my first time validating too!!
