    I see......

I have learned much from these boards. I find that most of the folks here are very enlightened and wise. I enjoy the differing points of view. It does make one think, maybe even leading them to ask those difficult questions that make us change for the better.

And yes, one must treat the disease, not just the symptoms. I believe that by going through these steps of repairing the damage we take a good hard look at our selves and are working on the treating the disease. Some people have drink, gamble, eat, don't eat, whatever, to cope with the "stress" in their lives.... and some have spent money.... much like one learning to eat healthy and getting into exercising........ steps toward living emotionally and mentally healthy.

cheers to all, have a great day.

    Piggycat,

I am not against fighting the Big Bad Credit Machine. You may have used those words in a less than serious way. I do not. I think that is a fair description of the credit reporting and debt collection industry. I encourage anyone to fight it.

I AM against allowing the fight to control your life. Anyone with bad credit has other issues to address such as income, spending, budgeting, etc. I believe those issues to be more important than credit repair.

As long as one is working on the basic financial issues, I believe that one is perfectly justified in not worrying about credit reports unless absolutely necessary. Hiring a stable, competent, and knowledgeable pro to clean them up is one way not to worry about them, if such pros exist. Dropping out and ignoring credit reports entirely (which I did for three years and continue to do to a lesser extent even now) is another way not to worry about them.

My perspective: I have a few very difficult items entered under my name on various credit reports, and haven't had any sucess in disputing them. I don't have a lot of resources to devote to credit repair. I have some prime credit already, and I'm building credit as much as I'm repairing it. As LKH mentioned was possible, I'm looking to find better credit cards and lower interest rates in my current situation, which will be vastly different 9 months from now, when the last of the derogatory items are scheduled for removal.

    RichGuy,

Thank you for the insight. Balance in life is what I strive for. I know that it is very hard to get a balance and reduce the drama. But I figure if I am trying and working in that direction, I am doing what is healthy and reasonable...... I agree that the credit repair journey should not consume your life. I especially like your quote about credit being a way of life.

I am very greatful that I found these credit boards. It has been very enlightening and rewarding.......

I also believe that the little people like us can effect changes, not all the time, but if we do not try, will will never know.

thank ya'll for the thought provoking conversation,

    cheers,

    piggycat

    • That's it. I have no more words. It is so sad that the "Hall of Fame" isn't updated anymore, so posts like this one have to be bumped once in a while ...

WOW... I truly do love coming here to this board.. admittedly it has become a passion/obsession of mine.

In looking at others' comments, yes there is a disease and I think many of us here have figured out that we have a problem. Now that we have figured that out, we need to move forward withour lives.

The first step to remedy.. stop ignoring the credit report and CA/OC letters. That is truly the therapy here. Admitting that, YES I screwed up.. I need to stop screwing up and clear it up.

Once you are in the clear AND you have cleared it yourself.. I truly believe that you will NOT make the same mistkaes again and in turn feel better about yourself, your credit life and life in general (no nagging things hanging around). I mean credit is no longer just about buying a house and a car,, it is also used to secure a job nowadays...

so in rapping, BUTCH ROCKS!!!! his statements are eloquent and shine the light of hope and promise. He, Sassy and others have been quite an inspiration to me. When I first admitted I had a prblem and started the cleansing/repair process may have only been two months ago, but let me tell ya.. First I was in despair and in a downward spiral, but each day is a new day and a better day.

THANK YOU CREDIT NET and all of you how answer my posts!!

    Yes,

Fixing your credit yourself can be extremely rewarding, it can also be an extremely tiresome and time consuming, and even eventually downright frustrating. While you may find that fixing your credit yourself can sometimes be cheaper, its best left to the experts at Debt Management companies.

You can find more information on this subject at Fixing Debt - Do it yourself Vs. Let the experts
