Learning how to deal with your own finances and credit is a skill worth developing. Learning which companies can solve all your problems for you, if you will just pay them some money, and which companies just take your money and are not worth the cost, may not be worth it.
I am new here and just came across this thread I believe what you said but I work to jobs to get the life I want so I will have some one else to do what I don't have the time for the learning curve I already took care of the disease now I am getting help with the symptoms.
Dont fix your credit, WRECK your credit. Why should I fix my credit? I pay all my bills on time, I am never late, I have good credit. But... My credit lines have been getting canceled. Bank of America canceled my Credit Card, Amex canceled my CC, Chase canceled my CC, EVEN SEARS canceled my CC. Why are they canceling? Because my available credit is getting too low. WTF!!! I applied for a Discover card to replace the lost credit and I was declined because "I had too many credit applications on my credit report". How the hell are you supposed to get a credit card if applying for a card hurts your credit? Chase raised the interest rate on my CC to 25% because "I do not have enough credit lines that are 24 months old". WTF does that have anything to do with credit? I put $100k cash down payment (50% LTV) to buy my house. I made all my mortgage payments on time for 2 years, but when I tried to get a HELOC, I was declined. WTF!!! I lost $100k!!! Tens of thousands of people are walking away from their mortgages, and declaring bankrupcy. Others are getting loan modifications and getting their principle reduced. I must be the only ahole in this country who pays my mortgage and credit cards. You should NOT fix your credit, you should WRECK YOUR CREDIT. If you have good credit, max out all your credit cards, spend the money, take a vacation, give the money to your relatives, dont pay your mortgage and tell your boss to stick a bone up his ahole. Then when the CC companies ask for their money, just say fkyu!
I have a problem. I can't figure out whether you are bragging or complaining. Which is it? Both? Personally, I think the credit card companies have done you a great favor by canceling your credit cards but of course that is a matter of personal opinion. Obviously you don't agree with me but that's fine too. All I can tell you is that if you don't pay what you owe the credit cards and mortgage lenders then you would be well advised to know how to protect what you have and be well prepared to do legal battle with them. If you know how to fight you can keep your home through a foreclosure battle but it will take many years to get that job done no matter how well prepared you might be. Battling the credit card companies and winning can also be done but that too will also take a lot of time out of your life. It isn't an easy road to travel but it sure can be a lot of fun.
What delane said. Especially regarding the disease being treated and the symptoms needing cleaning up. Oh and that link at the bottom of pg. 2 is no longer around... anyone know of an alternate?
