How do I stop Fleet's internal collections dept. from calling me? Since they are an original creditor, is it true that they are not bound by law to stop calling? They even called my relatives in another state. I told them that I will communicate via mail or email only but they keep calling.

The easiest way to stop them from callling you to make arrangements, ect in regards to your debt.. that would be the first step.. and would also stop the calls.. remember they only want the money that you borrowed from them.. It is not free

I am pretty sure it is against the law for a creditor to call anyone else but you. They should not disclose your account status to anyone else but you, not even your mother. Did you give them your aunt's number? Did they just ask for you or did they actually disclose the purpose of their call.

Thanks for the advice. I had never given them my relative's number...but then again, they didn't disclose where they were calling from.

The calls have stopped now..I called this a.m. and got on their hardship program..and they are letting me wait a month to pay the first check..I'm so relieved!
