Can a collection agency start the SOL clock ticking again when it buys a debt? An agency declared that it opened an account on a debt in 2007. The debt was originally incurred in 2005. Since the SOL in my state is four years, doesn't that make the debt uncollectable?
If the first missed payment was 2005,and never brought current the dofd is 2005,in some states if you make a payment it starts the clock over again. All the 2007 means is they were assigned,or bought the deb that year.
