cap 1 is great bank, excellent service. I highly recommend them. I started out with that bank nearly 2 years ago. I know have a $30K car loan and nearly $40K in unsecured credit. This is the only card i have kept since the beginning.

And yes, i did sign up for some of those "fool" cards. It was a bad mistake.

I got a secure Sterling bank and FCBN card. had them both since march of last year, have no complaints. With FCNB I deposited $200 and got a $600 credit line.

Try Cap1. If you get denied appeal the denial with a nice letter to www.planetfeedback.com and see if that dept can get you one.

If you don't have a bankruptcy, ANB secured visa is good too. (Associates national Band)
    www.anbcards.com.

Third choice: FCNB (First Consumers National Bank) but only their secured card. Their unsecured card has worse terms.

    I'd apply in that order.

Cap1 is great because when you do well with them, you can get a mc later and you can work this card to unsecured, and then prime terms.

If you search the board you'll see lots of ways how to better your terms with Cap1

Cap1 is the only one you might get declined on application. ANB's form says if you haven't filed a bk it's guaranteed.

FCNB is pretty guaranteed too. The only difference will be how much they multiply your deposit by to equal a credit line.

The others that are "guaranteed" like Netfirst, Sterling, Cross Country etc aren't scams per se, but they're so loaded with fees that you're just buying a very expensive tradeline and not much of an actual credit card. They're so expensive that it's not worth it.
