I think I've found the secret to getting it off your report but I suspect it must be paid. The facts as I know them: When my tax lien was paid off, EX automatically updated it to paid and the address where I lived when the lien occurred suddenly jumped to the top of my EX report. EX seems to have every single address I ever driven past in their file! It appears that EQ and TU only keep your current address and your previous two addresses. My tax lien was probably 5 or 6 addresses ago (I move a lot). When I challenged the tax lien on EQ and TU, they both deleted. So, if the address that you lived at when you received your lien doesn't show up on your report, I "think" that it will fall off if you challenge it. I'm going to test the theory by first challenging the address on EX, wait for it to fall off, and then challenge the tax lien.
Didn't work for me on EQ -- they have verified (they claim) by sending someone to the courthouse. I disputed as not mine, and twice for incorrect dates. Verified both times. Came off TU and EX on first try by disputing as not mine.
We had the same with EX too. They're the only ones with paid state tax liens still appearing. We're waiting till CHOD on them since we've found EX to be the quickest to refuse to investigate again. DemPooches
So true! I just had EX delete a passel of old addresses. I found out that my hubbys CH7 was deleted because they could not verify it was his (address was not on file). The only CRA who verified was EX and that is because, like me, he had a ton of old addresses on his file. I plan on disputing come CHOD and see if that works!
