I was just on the Nelnet website, and I was researching forbearances. I've written before that we got one, and the TL still shows the late. The site says that forbearances will NOT wipe away all the derogs. I was under the impression that a retroactive forbearance would help clear up your CR. I know some have had luck w/ this, and others haven't (me being in the later group) I'm having hubby call sallie mae and nelnet tomorrow, hopefully getting a supervisor, to try to get the lates deleted. Goodwill letter hasn't worked. Anything else?

    Hi Tracy:
Im feel your pain I'm having the same problem. I was 94 days late before forbearance was approved. I call avery other month trying to clear this up but no luck.....Before I found this web site I recieved a letter statting current", under Forbearance from 1-98 to 6-98. I sended that letter to all CRA. Experian deleted, then I sended the result ot the Investigation to EQ & TR, but came back verified again. I think I has spoken w/ everybody trying to clear this up, but they won't do it... DON"T GIVE_UP eventually they will get tired.

I read a few posts in the searches, people have done it, they just didn't post HOW they've done it. I'm searching other forums too, and if I find something, I'll let you know!! There HAS to be a way!! If not, we all should have defaulted and then just rehabbed. that way we would only have to suffer for 12 more months, instead of 7 yrs!!

Tracy let me tell you the one year rehab thing is not that easy, you have to be patient for a year and then see. I mean it does beat the 7 year alternative, but it is still going to be a long year for me.

Yeah, but my husbands lates are recent. It's going to be a LOONNNGG 7 yrs! I know there is a way, if I have to write 100 letters to find it! I'm having him call Nelnet and Sallie Mae tomorrow, and see what they say. I'll start writing letter after letter. Goodwill, nutcase, you name it. I'm determined!! LOL I wish people who have accomplished it would share how, because other than letter writing, I'm at a loss!!!

I did a goodwill letter to Sallie Mae and knock on wood, they fixed everything for me. Mine was more they screwed up/I called too late to verify new payment. They removed a +120 late.

My CitiBank loans were the same situation where I had a retro forbearance...I lucked out because Citi sent two letters to me on the same day. One just stating my forbearance time period and my next due date was 8 months from then and the second letter stating it was retro and excepted the month they quit reporting it. They did state to me that the forbearance was retroactive for the payments but I was still responsible for the payments, therefore it was reporting correctly and they WOULD not remove. I dont think they meant to send me the first letter and I forgot to tell them :) ...It was this first letter that got everything off my reports...simply how could I be late if I was in forbearance.

    Tracy:
I try the same aproach w/ the office of the ombusman, that it was not fair for a person to file a forbearance, to be retroactive, but not remove the negative trades, than a person to be defaulted, consolidate wait 12 month and have their negative remove, to me that is a discremination of some sort. They told that's how the law was written..
I think the goodwill letter works if you find the right person w/some sort of power withing the company.... still searching for that person....
    Keep in touch......
