Between 04-01 to 02-02 tons of ppl has unauthorized inquiry by Ford motor Crdit, I am one of victim (I Never apply credit w them), we tried writing letter to EX & Ford, no respond so far for 2 months. Today I found a 800 number & I called asked them to delete it, the supervisor (name Teresa )said that since we are not on the list. therefore they cannt delete it, that I have to go though EX for dispute. I told her, EX dont delete inquiry, the reps told me they do not add or delete that is the creditor's job, since they knew it was a fraud. To make the long story short, basically she said Ford is a viticm just as much as the thousand of ppl out there, and there is NOthing she can do nor address, fax I can send to. I threat her with a lawsuit, she said then my attorney would know where to send the letter. WTF??!!!!!! What the HELL was she thinking?? A simple "delete" would save them thousand of $$, but yet FORD rather go for a lawsuit??? ppl...what should I do next, CNN? Fox new, small claim, CLASS ACTION ??!!!
yes it was, that is why I made such a big deal. somehow it shows 3 hard ones from Metro Ford Ford Auto Finance Union acceptance. All those 3 are affiliate one way or the other.... No respond from all 3 letter I send to.
Mrei, someone used Ford Credit's access number to get into Experian's files and steal personal info. My best guess - they did not notify everyone. http://www.usatoday.com/life/cyber/tech/2002/05/16/ford-credit.htm http://detnews.com/2002/autosconsumer/0205/16/a01-491275.htm http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/article.php/10_1136531
Ford Warns credit Customers Of Theft Suspects Reportedly Gained Access To Database FBI officers in Detroit are investigating how thieves posed as ford motor credit Company personnel. The suspects gained access to a database used by credit-reporting agency Experian, Local 4 reported. Ford is now warning customers with credit accounts to watch for theft or any suspicious activity on monthly account statements. The suspects downloaded information on 13,000 people from Experian. About 400 of them were ford credit customers and about 610 of the victims lived in Michigan. Neither Ford Credit nor Experian has determined how many people have reported fraudulent charges or other problems. Mr. Girard said that Experian had received 2,700 calls since the letters started going out this month. Although the unauthorized inquiries began in April 2001, Ford first heard about the problem in February, Mr. Van Leeuwen said. Didn't you say these inquires were from 4/01 to 2/02. That's when the Ford was hacked. Things to make you go hum..
Now I am reading the report again, I saw one 11/01, one at 10/00!!!!!! WTF?? Ok, I understand they didnt want this to happen, and they couldnt notify evryone ON Time, but now that the consumer called and dispute the inquiry, why are they still acting like some crowns...??... I am not looking for trouble, money or attention, just simply "sorry, it will be remove immediatly" How hard can it be?? If EX had a better system, ppl wont hack in and get thousands of file just like that, and if Ford are little more careful, they should have notice it months B4!!
ME! Now, I understand. The same happened to me!!! How eerie. I've tried and tried to get this deleted with no luck! Yes, a hard inquiry!
They don't really know how many people were affected, I am sure. They weren't hacked. Someone got access to Ford's Experian account and walked in, acted like they worked for them, and started pulling credit reports. I imagine they want to minimize it, and downplay the possibilities.
My friend once told me the REAL number & the number reported on the media is always X10.. so 13000.00 EQUALS TO 130000.00??? Scaryyyyy..
