I had a car with ford credit repossesed in 95 since then i have purchased two cars and paid both of the loans off. The repo is not listed on any of my credit reports anymore. Would it be foolish to apply for a car loan with ford credit? my fico score is around 690 to 715. would I be on a lifetime ban with ford credit? how long do they keep recordes of that?
    Thanks
    George

Not 100% sure, but I would imagine they do keep records of who has defaulted with them. If it is not on your report, just go with another type of car. With that near 700, or just above FICO, you should have no problem qualifying for the best terms available. Ford just may have you "blacklisted" or something. I'm not saying I know for sure, but I would imagine they would.

Now, that said, you have paid off two cars since, and the incident was nearly 10 years ago. I think it's worth a shot.

    Hi-

I have a lot of experience with Ford (my fmaily has several delaerships).

You will not be 'blacklisted'. They may ask you about the account but they will work with you.

I have personally witnessed Ford Motor Credit give a special 'lease' to a couple that had just had a Ford Repo. They set them up on a 1 year lease which would 'renew' if they made all their payments on time.

FYI- you can deal with Ford Credit directly BEFORE you go to the dealership.

ALSO- you don't have to purchase a 'Ford'...many dealers floorplan their lots through Ford Credit even though they may sell other makes (Chevy, Nissan, etc...)

    Hope that helps!

I also have a current account with Ford Credit. Previously had a Subaru Credit account and returned the vehicle and litigated the lease (settled with Subaru). Subaru now reports, albeit inaccurately. In the event I get Subaru deleted from my CRA's, does Ford Credit have back door access by way of Primus and it's relationship to Ford Credit?

    Primus is owned by FMCC.

Then chances are, if Primus owns Subaru Credit (which I have not been able to determine through the SEC database), then Ford Credit might have the account info.

    Thanks much.

I work at an auction but technically I work for FMCC, I am a title clerk and handle about 1000 repo titles for FMCC a week, and I can honestly say, I have NEVER done a repo for Subaru for FMCC. I guess it is POSSIBLE that they are affiliated but I do not think so bc I would have had to handle a repo for them at one time or another.

Thanks. I recall when Subaru sent repo man to my house, he said he was there to pick up the car for "Ford". I refused to surrender the vehicle, though.

Sorry for the delay, I was away with work....

In about 20 years of dealings with FMC at our 18 dealerships, I have never heard anything about Subaru. But, who knows, maybe there is some kind of connection. Sorry I couldn't help more!
