This is strange. In helping a friend out with his credit report I came across this.

He had a charge off and 3 collections listed. In November we disputed the four accounts (including the charge off)

In December the results came back the 3 CA were deleted and the charge off verified. However looking at the report the charge off is still listed as:
    consumer disputes-reinvestigation in process

Ok.......That note is on every report since then. We have not disputed with the creditor so it has to be from EQ.We have not re-disputed the account with EQ either though.

Any way to get this removed based on that?
Seems like a long shot but any thoughts?????
This is his only neg left.

This is an equifax problem- my tradeline was supposed to be deleted but there it remains "customer disputes-reinvestigation in progress"... haven't called them on it yet, figured it would disappear, but as of 60 days it has not. Will include in my next letter.

I think I'd try to have these accounts removed completely based on the fact it's been over 60 days in "dispute" status. They're supposed to remove or update within 30 days from the day you disputed it. They didn't. Demand removal.

I called CSC (local affiliate of Equifax) and they told me that if I redisputed anything w/in 6 months, they would just mark it that consumer disputes (and reason). They don't reinvestigate. It's been like 60 days already also for me. That's why I'm going to send a procedural request now.

they have 30 days from the day they receive the dispute. If you send additional information after the dispute begins, then they get an additional 15 (45 total) worst case scenario.

So if it's been 60 days, they've violated the time limit and the item is an immediate deletion. period.

    Thanks everyone!

No additional info was supplied nor was it ever disputed again.

I think I will do as LK suggested. I will copy the five reports and send them along with a letter demanding deletion.

If this disappears he will have a perfect report - if only my disputes went as easy...........
