Well, I tried to get my EX report online but neither the EX website nor the creditexpert website would allow me access to it. So I sent off a letter to EX requesting a copy of my report because I suspected fraud. I provided them all of my pertinent information, however today I received a letter from them stating that they had placed a fraud statement on my file and now they want me to contact them via phone to dispute specific accounts. How the hell am supposed to know what is exactly on my EX report if I don't have a copy of it? The accounts that aren't mine that show up on the TU and EQ reports may or may not be reported on EX so am I supposed to call them and go down the list of accounts on the other reports and dispute them?

Also, they give me an option of placing a 7 year fraud statement on my credit. Now, does placing a fraud statement like that mean that you esentially have a no credit file again? Anyone with any experience with this, please help. Thank you.

My wife is in a similar situation due to an identity theft.. We requested the fraud alert to be put on all 3 files. The only thing is that it should prompt anyone pulling her report to contact her first before approving any application. The file should be open and updated as usual. If she applies for a card online or offline they may just decline her as they may not be interested in trying to make sure of her identity before approving her. This is what we need as someone has already tried to use her SSN to apply for a Fleet MC, Sears and a cell phone. He was approved at Fleet but the application went to their fraud department which notified us of the fraudlant application. This is the reason we added the alert on the files.

We cannot get the files online now but we can request them by mail.

Well, I received a copy of my report in a separate envelope today. There are at least 4 accounts on here that don't belong to me and also some addresses. Now will be the fun part of disputing...great.

DISPUTE 4 or 5 things...wait 2 weeks and send 4-5 more things...if you have 20-30 WRONG things...DON'T DO WHAT I DID AND DO ALL IN ONE DAY!!! THEY FIX THE FIRST 4 AND QUIT.

All my "FIXES" were "COSMETIC"...open as closed...who's account...credit limit wrong...etc.

    I would not do that.
If there is Neg.Info on the other CRAs but not Exp. they just might add it to yout file with them!!
