I'm new here and probably won't have much to add any time soon, but I thought I could contribute this little tidbit. I was just able to get a free online TU report by simply selecting that my report may contain incorrect information due to fraud http://www.transunion.com/Personal/OrderCreditReport.jsp Hope that's of use to someone.
It's common knowledge that you can retrieve a free TU report online every seven days by stating any reason for denial of credit and listing a creditor's name. They may change this in the future, but for now that's the way it is. Thanks for posting though, and welcome to the board.
Just watch out if you use that "possible fraud" choice...I used it then couldn't pull my report online for a couple of weeks. I have not idea whether or not they temporarily put a block on it or it was just a coincidence, but keep that in mind.
If you choose fraud, chances are, you are now going to have a 'Hawk Alert' placed on you're report. Hubby had one and even a TU sup could not access his report after that. The sup called and told us we had to call the CA office to get it removed before she could pull his report.
DH tried to pull a free TU report online yesterday using denial of credit as the reason. He was denied the free report. The reason they gave was that they didn't have record of his being denied credit in the last 60 days... When I tried to pull one for myself they said they could not confirm my identity.
I seem to remember it not working for someone who in fact had no inquiries on their report. You can actually pull it even if you get blocked by simply changing some of your personal info.
