I have an account wit freecreditreport.com since June wit Experian, started off wit 524 and I just checked it yesterday.653! Says I have no accounts in collections... but I do, I have 1 for $706 but says it went up from 596 to 653 cuz I have no collections but it shows I do. I don't get it... is this a joke? How could a site make this mistake ? Will I check next week n my points drop back to 596...
What you're seeing isn't even a "real" credit score that potential lenders would use, so I wouldn't get too worried about. It's what we like to call a FAKO, because instead of providing you with a real FICO score based on your Experian credit reports, they're giving you a generic in-house score based on their own credit scoring model. In fact, you can't even get your Experian-based FICO scores anymore. They parted ways with FICO last year. Anyway, the best use you'll get out of Freecreditreport.com is the daily credit report monitoring and unlimited access to your Experian reports. Don't get too hung up on the scores they give you. Focus on cleaning up your credit reports, and your FICO scores will gradually improve too.
It could be lower, or it could be higher. You would have to pull your actual FICO scores to find out. However, my point is you shouldn't pay much attention to the FAKO scores you get from Experian.
I too was a sucker years ago and fell for the "Singing Canadian and his Band of Fools" and bought in to that Free Credit Report . Com scam. Although I think they were eventully dragged kicking and screaming into court over False Ads. by the FTC they eventually dumped the singing Band and changed the image to Free Credit Score. Com Still the same scam just a different image and they do sell you a FAKO score that's for all intents and purposes useless because lenders don't look at their model. They look at FICO based scores. I dropped any association with Free Credit Report years ago Thank you.. The best you can do though, is get copies of your CRA's and check them for accurate info. then if you're really concerned about the real numbers, wait till any corrections have been made and pay for a real FICO score. There should be a Discount Code on this board. Good Luck!
