I found this information on a collection agency website:

Martel prints collection letters from your directory, saving you time and money. Just provide Martel with debtor demographics (name, address, telephone number, amount due, itemized statement).

A fully automated recovery process, transferring of account information into a specifically-assigned FACS directory for complete account follow-up by Martel.

State-of-the-art Flexible Automated Collection System (FACS) with Guaranteed Contacts, the power phone dialer, providing the most efficient and effective collection system in the industry.

Collectors work each account for up to seven years.

I think this means that they sometimes do the collecting without purchasing the debt, which I know happens.

Since we would not know whether or not they owned the debt, we might send a validation letter to them.

My question is: Wouldn't they be unable to validate since all they have is a listing of info with no signed documents from the consumer?
