I am becoming very frustrated - I have two accounts listed on Equifax from a collection agency called Kings Credit Services in California. I have disputed these accounts until I am blue in the face. I wrote the collection agency asking for proof of the debt and they mailed me copies of a "classified" ad ticket written by a California newspaper that has no social security number etc and doesn't even spell my name correctly. The ads were taken out under a name that used my middle name and the spelling of my last name was different (i.e. Thomson instead of Thompson). I mailed copies of these to Equifax and they basically ignore them. The total debt is about $78.00 and it is definitely not mine - I have never lived in the city where this ad was placed and was not even in California at the time it was placed. I am open to suggestions. Should I threaten to litigate? I am working toward buying a home and I don't need this on my reports. Any help would be appreciated.
I've never had a problem like such before. You could try calling up the collection agency, as well as the credit bureau. If that doesn't solve the problem, contact a lawyer and threaten to sue. Good luck!
Ohgoodgrief!! Hal that is sooooo awful. A newspaper ad with a similar name?? Unbelievable!! It's mailicous! Rack yourself up some damages, go see a lawyer.
I agree!!!! Get a attorney and sue them!! This is stupidity at its finest!! Hey breeze you owe me 4 fico points for letting you respond to my post earlier! I will collect them at the conference!! So have them ready!!! Or else!!! LOL I have a better chance of getting those fico points than they do of getting your money!! Elfin Magic

Re: Frustrated - open to suggestion It's a net cloaking service. I didn't realize they made cookies up in that part of the country. Doc

Re: Frustrated - open to suggestion Yes, Hal, but what you didn't find out is that the ISP he is using is a boat presently sitting outside the 12 mile limit at Latitude 17.12 Longitude -61.85. They are up and downlinking to and from satellite for their feeds. If I happen to catch old Gaseous actually online I can complete the track right to his house and know exactly where he really is.
Re: Frustrated - open to suggestion Are you guys trying to figure out who I am? Why? I am not trying to bother anyone. I was a poster under a different name and just decided with all the people supposedly monitoring this site that I would try out this cloaking thing. Never used one before. If you have any questions for me just ask!!! Elfin Magic
Re: Frustrated - open to suggestion sorry but I am neither of those people. I am just a consumer who has errors on there credit report and I am trying to fix them and enjoy reading everyone's posts. Elfin Magic
Re: Frustrated - open to suggestion How are you smart guys and gals getting this info off the isp??? I'm really curious now. Signed, the technically challenged.
Re: Frustrated - open to suggestion Part of it comes from a program called NEOWATCH which you put on your machine and it tells you anytime someone tries to hack into your computer. It tells you what port they tried to attack, what their ISP is and a bit more info and will track them down to their ISP and their actual location, but not their actual physiccal address. It does give you limited optical capabilities but only down to about 150 feet per pixel resolution. That's not great resolution at all. I use another one on top of that that gets it down to 1 foot per pixel and you can see just about any spot on the face of the earth. Government military intelligence satellite photos are supposedly much sharper and clearer than that. Some military people I know say they can see the license plates on a car sitting in someones driveway if there are no trees present, can actually read the date on a dime lying in the street. The one I use gets me the exact latitude and longitude. I also have a Palm Pilot version that does all of the same things nd also feeds me a street map of any town in the USA and most of the world as well. It is liked to satellite and all I have to do is give it an address, uplink and it will downlaod me a map of the area for several miles around. Gives me directions to any place I want to go. I use GPS a lot too. It's real handy as well.
